In this time of uncertainty, we find ourselves in unchartered waters.  Nothing is more important to our office than the health and safety of the public and our employees.  We are working with Sheriff Hilton, Sheriff-elect Woods, the judges and all other state and local officials to maintain the proper balance between the very real COVID-19 threat and continuing to protect the public in our sworn duties.  Working together, we assure you that we will provide the best service that we can.  

As your District Attorney, I and my staff are continuing to work and our offices are open for work. However, in an effort to do our part in curtailing the spread of the Coronavirus, we will be instituting the following policies:

The District Court judges have decided to suspend criminal court proceedings between March 16, 2020, through April 17, 2020.  Defendants will receive their new court date and time through the mail. Defendants should contact their attorney with any questions.  The Rapides Parish Clerk’s Office is open and can answer telephone inquiries at (318) 473-8153. Any inquiries to our office can be made via telephone (318) 473-6650 from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.  Email inquiries can be made to


Effective immediately and until further notice, please complete and submit any child support applications through the on-line process at  

Please call our office between the hours of 8:30 am to 4:30 pm at (318)442-9200 if you have any inquiries regarding child support or child support hearing dates.   

Juvenile Hearings will be conducted on an as-needed basis.  If you have a matter set between March 16, 2020 - April 17, 2020, you will receive a summons re-setting the matter for a future date except for hearings related to Child in Need of Care, and Emergency Child Custody Matters, and Proceedings for children removed from their homes by emergency court orders.  If you have any questions please call your attorney of record or our office at (318) 767-3988. 


In an abundance of caution for the public as well as our staff during this COVID-19 Emergency, the Pre Trial Intervention Department will be suspending all appointments.

We strongly encourage all defendants who are required to attend AA/NA meetings, and who cannot find a meeting in the current situation, to attend meetings online.

If you are a victim of a worthless check, you will find our procedure to make your complaint at under the “worthless checks” tab.  You can mail the worthless check to us when you follow that procedure to limit face to face contact.
